When I decided to start a new business, quality dog accessories was the natural choice. I’ve been a dog owner most of my life and spent many years in obedience training. Two of our dogs competed for years in AKC Obedience trials, winning Utility Dog and Companion Dog Excellence degrees. I’ve taught training and judged obedience class graduation exercises. Dogs have always been a part of our family, from German Shepards, to Standard poodles to an English pointer. We now have our second rescued greyhound, a black beauty named Zoe. We encourage contacting the greyhound rescue organization when you decide to add to your family.
Growing up, my father always had a general store. I learned the value of customer service and satisfaction. Please let us know how we can serve you better. Thank you for visiting our store.
About Dog Collars
Training collars, used for dog obedience training, are usually choke collars that are made out of chain or nylon. There are some that have prongs on the inside of the collar which are used for large strong dogs that are hard to control. The choke collar is never used to "choke" a dog. The choke collar should fit snugly over the dog's head. You should be able to get one to three fingers vetically between the collar and the top of the dog's neck depending on the size of the dog.
The martingale collars were first used with greyhounds and other sighthounds whose necks were larger than their heads. It has a tightening affect like the choke collar, but is much less sever. Since it is relatively wide, it doesn't pinch or cut the neck hair and won't choke off the dogs air supply as a choke collar can. The martingle collar should fit snugly over the dog's head. You should be able to get two fingers vertically between the collar and the top of the dog's neck.
The buckled collar, either in fabric or leather, is the type usually used where control is not a problem. They come in a variety of colors and designs. The leather ones can come with spikes or studs which originally were used o protect the dog's neck from other dogs or wild animals and give the air of strength. The fabric ones come in an array of designs from a simple one color collar to one that shows off the latest in fashions. The buckled collar should be buckled so that you can get one to three fingers vertically between the collar and the top of the dog's neck depending on the size of the dog.
